St. Andrews Golfing |

In the land of the heather,
whin, grass and sand, with the snow-capped Highlands to the North and the sea
spray drifting over the dunes, lies St. Andrews, the traditional "Home of Golf".
The story started as long ago as the twelfth century when the Old Course was
laid out, roughly in the shape of a huge shepherd's crook, and still remains,
much as it was in the beginning.
This magical course has seen so many great
characters, "Old Tom" Morris and his son "Young Tom", and James Braid was
another of the great champions. The famous "Open" competition was first
organized in 1860 and still has the same aim today, that is to decide "the best
golfer in the world".
The artist for the St. Andrews Golfing design was
Bill Waugh, whose paintings are much sought after in the USA and Japan. His
commissions include official paintings for major events, such as the American
Open and the Ryder Cup.
The skills acquired over the past two-hundred and fifty
years by the British Potteries, who have made some of the world's finest
ceramics, have been used to create this range. In order to achieve the very
distinctive Pointers' look, the artist's original work has been carefully
reproduced, using up to eighteen color separations, thus ensuring the delicate
color shading.
Pointers' ceramic products are entirely handcrafted and hand
gilded in Great Britain, and are known for their very British look and label.
The principal markets for this range are as collectables, trophy pieces, gifts
for men and corporate gifts. All the ceramics items are supplied in individual
gift boxes which are ivory colored and carry the Pointers' name and logo. In
order to avoid slipping and scratch marks on furniture, the base of items are
felt-covered as a finishing touch. |
